Florida Early Voting: What does it indicate about the US Election 2020?

Early voting is smashing records across all over the United States.

Between early in-person voting and mail/absentee ballots cast before Election Day, early voting turnout will likely be the key to victory in the presidential race.

Florida, is one of the key battleground states where they have stats about the people who voted with their party registration, Let’s do a deep dive into Florida’s early voting tallies.

More than 62% of the state’s voters had cast ballots through Sunday — two days before Election Day. So how does that break down by party? Razor-thin: 66.2% of registered Democrats have already voted, as have 65.9% of Republicans.

The latest available numbers show Democrats with a 108,000-ballot lead over Republicans. Percentage-wise it's a 1.1% lead. But in 2016 Hillary Clinton had 1.4% lead in early voting with 90,000 vote advantage. In the end, Trump ends up getting 112,911 (1.2%) more votes than Hilary Clinton.

Even though Trump encourages his supporters to vote on the election day rather than Mail in their ballets, the counties he won overperforming the democrats in early voting turnout numbers. This is an indication of voter enthusiasm of Trump supporters.

The race is more like in 2016 in Florida, Early voters data does not indicate a blow out Biden victory. It's going to be a closely contested election.

The election will be decided by 21.5% of Florida electorate who are unaffiliated with either party.
