With Sri Lanka's local government polls days away, the Numbers.lk pre election survey shows the NPP commanding nearly two-thirds of the national vote share.

After five years, Sri Lanka has lifted its ban on vehicle imports. The government has imposed significantly higher taxes on all vehicles, aiming to control foreign exchange outflows and generate more revenue.

Our latest poll projects a commanding lead for the National People's Power (NPP) in Sri Lanka's 2024 Parliamentary Election, signaling a potential shift in the nation's political landscape. The NPP is on track to win approximately 124 seats out of 225, positioning them well ahead of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), which trails with an estimated 53 seats.

During the colonial era, Sri Lanka, with its ideal terrain and climate was originally chosen for coffee farming. However, after the devastating impact of Coffee Rust Disease, the country shifted its focus to tea. Today, with the revival of the coffee industry, Sri Lanka is making a comeback, cultivating both Arabica and Robusta coffee varieties.

Of the 225 seats in the Sri Lankan Parliament, 196 MPs are elected from 22 multi-member electoral districts. The remaining 29 seats are allocated to contesting parties and independent groups in proportion to their share of the national vote. These 29 seats are referred to as the National List.

Numbers.lk pre election poll results once again proved accurate in predicting the Presidential Election outcome. Numbers.lk’s final poll, conducted between the 9th and 16th of September, and published on the 18th, estimated Anura Kumara Dissanayake (AKD) would receive 40% of the vote, while Sajith Premadasa was predicted to secure 29%.

The final pre-election poll by numbers.lk reveals a commanding lead for Anura Kumara Dissanayake (AKD) of the National People's Power (NPP) in the upcoming Sri Lankan presidential race. AKD has secured a significant 11% advantage over his closest rival, leaving both the opposition leader Sajith Premadasa and incumbent President Ranil Wickremesinghe trailing by double digits.
