“Cannot hold General Election on 20th June”; NEC informs Supreme Court

Pieris also informed the courts that a general election can only be held about 10 weeks after the health authorities give a safety greenlight and there could be other factors that could make the holding of an election even a little longer than that.
Meanwhile, President’s Counsel M ASumanthiran, who appeared on behalf of Charitha Gunarathne, Attorney-at-Law, the first petitioner informs the court that he will not pursue with his application the submissions made by the counsel appearing for the Election Commission stating that the election will not be held on 20th June.
