Lanka Premier League to start on November 14, says SLC
The much-awaited Lanka Premier League, a franchised based T20 league organized by Sri Lanka Cricket will be officially launched in Sri Lanka early November this year. The tournament is scheduled to play from 14th November to 6th December.

SLC had confirmed an event-holder for the tournament in the Dubai-based Innovative Production Group (IPG), however, and IPG is expected to now work towards holding this tournament in November.
SLC has frequently failed to host a franchise T20 tournament. On at least four previous occasions, the board has announced a tournament that never materialised.
The Sri Lankan Cricket Board has already sold all rights of its leagues, including the broadcasting and media rights. Five teams will take part in the inaugural edition namely Colombo Lions, Dambulla Hawks, Galle Gladiators, Jaffna Cobras, and Kandy Tuskers.
Pakistan Super League’s, Quetta Gladiators revealed that the new team Galle Gladiators officially owned by Nadeem Omar will be introduced in the Lanka Premier League (LPL). Nadeem Omar the owner of Quetta Gladiators also officially confirmed the news in a private ceremony held in Karachi.
King of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan (SRK) also has been invited to acquire one team from among those set to participate in Sri Lanka’s franchise-based T20 Tournament, Lanka Premier League (LPL), which will kick off in November 2020.
Shar Rukh Khan owns the Kolkata Knight Riders from the Indian Premier League and the Trinbago Knight Riders from the Caribbean Premier League.
The 23 match League will be played on the 3 international venues of Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium, Pallekele International Cricket Stadium and Suriyawewa Mahinda Rajapakse International Cricket Stadium.
SLC, which had conceived the league in 2018, was earlier optimistic of conducting the event from August 8 to 22, pending government’s decision to open the country’s border for foreign arrivals.
