⭕️ The Hanwella Kelani River gauging station is currently reporting a water level of 10.01 m and rising, as of 2200h on 28 November. This places the river firmly in Major Flood Level territory.
⭕️ In previous flooding events, areas around Colombo did not experience significant rainfall before the upstream water arrived. This time, however, many areas near Colombo are already flooded, and the incoming upstream flow could make the situation much much worse.
