⭕ Sri Lanka Customs seized over 35 kg of gold—195 biscuits plus jewelry totaling 13 kg—hidden inside nine specially modified car-spare-part-like devices and luggage.
⭕ The haul is valued at Rs 1.10 billion, marking it the biggest gold smuggling operation ever uncovered at BIA.
⭕ Suspect: 32-year-old businessman from Grandpass, Colombo.
⭕ Senior officials, including DG of Customs Sarath Nonis, were present at Katunayake Airport due to the scale of the case.
