Over 25,000 duty-free vehicle permits issued since import ban 🇱🇰

⭕ Government has issued 25,508 duty-free permits to public servants since the suspension of vehicle imports in 2020 — Min. Anil Jayantha.

⭕ Most permits allow a duty concession up to Rs. 3.6 million.

⭕ Even as the government blocks the use of these permits under the current import regulations, it hasn't stopped issuing them. In the first six months of 2025, 2,043 permits have been issued.

⭕ No decision yet on allowing vehicle imports under these permits.
