📑 Asset Declarations Go Public – CIABOC Publishes Asset Declarations of Key Figures with Minimal Redactions 🇱🇰 – Key Transparency Step

⭕️ CIABOC has published the asset declarations of public figures who are required to submit them under the Anti-Corruption Act No. 9 of 2023.

⭕️ Unlike in previous years, they have only redacted personal information of the declarants -previously declarations were heavily redacted.

⭕️ Upon reviewing the declarations, it is evident that the President, PM, MP, and other government officials have submitted clear and detailed declarations. Credit also goes to them for their transparency.

⭕️ The only flaw that makes the system less than perfect: the website requires the public to register and log in to access the declarations. These declarations should be openly available to the public without requiring login.

⭕️ Nevertheless, this is an excellent step forward by the Bribery Commission and the government- a massive move toward transparent governance in Sri Lanka 🇱🇰. 👏👏
