Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 and IMF reach staff-level agreement for 5th review, unlocking $347 million

⭕ IMF and Sri Lankan authorities have reached a staff-level agreement to conclude the 5th review of Sri Lanka’s reform program.

⭕ Once IMF Executive Board approves, Sri Lanka will unlock about USD 347 million in financing.

⭕ Total disbursements under the IMF’s current support program will reach ~ USD 2.04 billion after this tranche.

⭕ Key policy commitments tied to the agreement include:

• Strong revenue generation and disciplined spending in the 2026 budget

• Improving tax compliance, broadening the tax base

• Reforming tax exemptions and strengthening public financial management

⭕ The 5th review occurs under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) arrangement supporting Sri Lanka’s macro-economic reform path.
