⭕ The island’s total population grew by 7.0%, from 20.36 million to 21.78 million over 12 years.

☸️ Buddhists increased by ~928,000 people, yet their population share fell 0.3 points (70.1% → 69.8%), showing slower growth than the national average.

🕉️ Hindus rose from 2.56M to 2.73M - a 6.8% increase, maintaining a 12.6% share, ~ matching national growth.

☪️ Followers of Islam grew the fastest — from 1.97M → 2.34M (+18.8%), with their population share rising 1.0% (9.7% → 10.7%).

✝️ Roman Catholics declined from 1.26M → 1.22M (−2.9%), marking the largest decrease among major religions and the only major group to record an overall drop in population, with share falling from 6.2% → 5.6%.
